Our story

They say it takes two to Tango! And our tale begins in Venice with two sisters, Viola and Vera Arrivabene and the humble Furlane (the traditional velvet slippers worn by the city’s gondoliers).
Every time the siblings boarded a plane, train, car or space shuttle, they would receive that inevitable call from friends, family, lovers past and present “ Please, please, please can you help me buy 5..10..20.. pairs of Furlane” and like this Vibi Venezia was born.
Vibi Venezia aims to spread the Arrivabene sisters combined love and passion for Venice, drawing inspiration from the enchanting landscapes and colors of the city.
Just imagine Venice and all of its magic captured in a pair of slippers! Perfect for a summer’s day out or for cozy nights in and with over 1000 fabric choices… Veni Vidi Vici Vibi Venezia!

The Furlane

The Furlane sum up the heart of Venice, its rich history, culture and traditions…and other than being the traditional attire of gondoliers it has long before been a staple in the wardrobes of our ancestors, perfect for sneaking around their chambers in silence.
Legend states that the gondolieri adopted these plush velvet slippers with their robust rubber soles (traditionally made from old bicycle tires) so as not to ruin the paint of their prized gondola. Fast forward to 2015, with a couple of squabbling Vibi sisters thrown in, a touch of sibling rivalry and a workshop of artisans in Friuli Venezia Giulia and the Vibi Venezia brand was born.
Through Vibi Venezia expect to discover the finest Italian craftsmanship (our artisans have been making shoes since the end of World War II) as well as a diverse selection of unusual textiles personally selected by us and expertly finished by hand. We hope that you enjoy wearing our Furlane as much as we have enjoyed creating them!
